बेंच की आत्मकथा…
बड़े बड़े लोगों को आत्मकथा लिखने का शौक होता है। लोग खूब चाव से अपनी आत्मकथा लिखते है, उसका विमोचन कराते हैं और प्रचार भी खूब पाते हैं। मुझे इसका ज्ञान अभी चंद रोज पहले ही हुआ, जब दो पढ़ाकू किस्म के युवा मेरे सानिध्य में आए। सानिध्य में आए से मतलब मुझ पर सवार हुए। चौंकिए नहीं। मैं एक बेंच हूं। ऐसी बेंच कि जिस पर बैठना बहुतेरे लोगों को रास आता है। बहुत से लोगों को नहीं भी आता। ये दुःखड़ा फिर कभी। अभी तो आत्मकथा…। तो उनमें से एक के हाथ में किसी नेताजी की आत्मकथा थी और वे उसी पर बतिया रहे थे। बस मेरे भी मन में भाव आया कि क्यों न मैं भी अपनी आत्मकथा लिखूं। लोग जानें तो कि आखिर दूसरों के सुख-दुःख को न चाहते हुए भी सुनने और गुनने वाली मैं यानी बेंच आखिर अपने अंतस में कितना कुछ दबाए, छुपाए बैठी है। बस, ठान लिया कि आत्मकथा तो लिखी ही जाएगी। कोई पढ़े या न पढ़े। कोई छापे या न छापे। स्वांत सुखाय भी तो कोई चीज है। बाकी जो हो वो बॉयप्रोडक्ट है। इस किस्सागोई में कभी नये तो कई पुराने किस्से आते रहेंगे। जब जैसी याद आई और कहने सुनने की फुरसत हुई। तो शुरू करते हैं- बेंच की आत्मकथा।
इसे सिर्फ अद्भुत कहें, तो खुद के साथ ही छोटापन जैसा सलूक करने जैसा मामला हो जाएगा। क्योंकि ये वह छोटी-सी (शब्द संख्या के लिहाज से) यात्रा है, जिसे पढ़ते समय आंख, मन और मस्तिष्क की प्रक्रियाओं के एक-एक कदम आगे बढ़ने में गोवर्धन पर्वत की परिक्रमा के लिए चलते रहने का सुख महसूस हुआ। प्रभु भाई आपको रुकने नहीं देते हैं। भावनाओं के अकल्पनीय संतुलन के बीच आप पाते हैं कि पूरे समय कभी ग़मगीन आँखों का गीलापन आप पर हावी हो रहा है तो फिर ऐसा भी है कि इस लेखन में अतीत की यादों में झाँकने के लिए आपको उन आँखों को आंसुओं से परे आराम वाली मुद्रा में लाना पड़ता है। इस मुद्रा को उस ख़ास कोण में प्रभु भाई ही स्थापित करते हैं, जो आपको तमाम एंगल से इस कहानी के बुजुर्ग पात्र से जोड़ता चला जाता है। लेखन की जादूगरी यह भी कि ढल चुकी उम्र वाला यह पात्र हर आयु-वर्ग के पाठक का हाथ पकड़कर उसे अपनी दुनिया में, अपने जैसे अनुभवों से एकाकार कर देता है। मेरा दावा है कि लेखन के क्षेत्र में तमीज का पढ़ने/लिखने की चाहत रखने वालों के लिए एक ‘बेंच मार्क’ की नींव रखी जा चुकी है।
